Breast Cancer

Breast Cancer is a malignant tumor in the breast. It is more widely spread amongst women but men also suffer from Breast Cancer. Often Breast Cancer manifests with a swelling or a lump in the breast. Not all lumps are cancerous but only a qualified doctor can diagnose it correctly. Breast Cancer is one of the most common cancers in females.

Dr Vijay Anand Reddy specialized in treating Breast Cancer at the Royal Marsden Cancer Hospital in London, recognized as the one of the world’s premier comprehensive cancer centres. His knowledge of and interest in Breast Cancer led him to pioneer a new treatment technique that now has become standard of care in India for all Breast Cancer patients – short course radiation.

Thanks to Dr Reddy, Breast Cancer sufferers are now treated with a short three week course of radiation. This approach is as effective as a longer course, in the same time being considerably less damaging to patient’s overall health and saving a lot of surrounding tissue from exposure to radiation. Additionally, short course radiation therapy is less expensive. Dr Reddy has published clinical studies on the subject, extensively proving the benefits of the treatment.

The Doctor is also a leading specialist in Interstitial Brachytherapy for patients in the early stages of Breast Cancer. Interstitial Brachytherapy in under a week treats the breast tissue from inside, making it possible to preserve healthy tissue and keep the color and shape of the breast unchanged.

Apart from radiotherapy, Dr Reddy uses his expertise in Medical Oncology to treat his patients with Chemotherapy & targeted therapy. Targeted therapy uses drugs to block the growth of cancer cells in very specific ways. Targeted therapy preserves the normal cells than chemotherapy and has significantly less side effects.

Breast Cancer Support Group was initiated by Dr Reddy to help women deal with the Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy and rehabilitation following treatment. It currently has more than 1000 members who have been cured.

The doctor attends major conferences as an invited speaker to share his knowledge and published articles on Breast Cancer in scientific journals exploring the treatment techniques he uses to achieve his extremely high success rates.
