Today more and more young women are being diagnosed with breast cancer according to most oncologists. This necessitates spreading awareness on prevention from a young age, on war footing.
Apollo Cancer Hospital hosted a unique campaign 'Let's be in Pink of Health- fight Cancer' to spread awareness among the youth about the dreaded breast cancer and how simple it can be to nip this disease in the bud stage, on Tuesday at Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills. Tollywood star actress Poonam Kaur, Asian Games 2014 Badminton medalists N. Siki Reddy and Pradnya Gadre, Dr. Vijay Anand Reddy, Director, Apollo Cancer Hospital, and a large number of students from St. Ann's College for Women, Loyola Academy Degree and PG College and Wesley Degree College for Women took part, along with small kids dressed in pink, taking a pledge to follow simple tips meticulously for prevention of breast cancer, including healthy diet habits, regular exercise, and educating friends and relatives.
College students expressed their views lucidly on breast cancer, causes for rampant incidence in India, ignorance among women, and simple steps to detect and prevent breast cancer at the elocution competition held on the occasion. The top 2 participants received prizes.
Apollo Cancer Hospital has taken the initiative to organize the Breast Cancer Awareness Program to target younger women to stem the incidence in the community, as pointed out by Dr. Reddy.
